British Canoeing 3 Star Sea Training  (rebranded for 2019 as the “Sea Kayak Award”) is for paddlers who are members of a led group on the open water.  Winds may be be up to Force 3 on the Beaufort Scale (7-10 knots), sea state 3, waves and small surf.

The BCU 3 Star Sea Training focuses on boat control in conditions, solid open water rescue skills and towing.   Many paddlers choose to participate in multiple trainings prior to attending an assessment (or have no intention of doing an assessment).
