PA Whitewater River Adventure
The Youghiogheny River, commonly referred to as just “The Yough” (pronounced “Yock”) in southwest Pennsylvania is one of the premier whitewater rivers within an easy day’s drive from Michigan. It is a dam controlled river with guaranteed flows when other rivers may not be runnable. This learning trip will help you hone your river running and playing skills on the Class 2 and Class 3 rapids of the Yough.
Day 1 has the option of warming up on either, the Middle Yough, Casselman or the Cheat Narrows depending on water levels. For those wanting a rest day could take a tour of the nearby Frank Lloyd Wright Falling Water house (tour fee not included). Tent camping is included at the Kentuck Campground. RV camping or hotel accommodations are available but not included in the trip cost. Trip costs include mandatory river usage fee and shuttle fees. Paddling days are Friday-Sunday, campsite available Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning. Sunday is often a short day to allow folks time to get home at a reasonable hour. Options include a loop run, a bomber (fast) entire Lower or running Slippery Rock Creek.
Paddlers should have some experience in Class 2 whitewater but need not have any prior Class 3 experience.
Yough River Kayak Adventure $375.00.
